Alternative Settings (POP, IMAP, SMTP) for BuckeyeMail

Settings for POP and IMAP access for BuckeyeMail

If you are using a device that needs different settings you can connect using IMAP / POP and SMTP. The settings you need are:

Server Name

Port

Encryption Method

POP3

Outlook.office365.com

995

SSL

IMAP4

Outlook.office365.com

993

SSL

SMTP

Smtp.office365.com

587

TLS

The default port for SMTP is 25. You may need to setup the account using the default port first and then update the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) or Port value to 587. The steps you take to access and update the default value will vary based on the client or mobile device you use.

You can find your POP and IMAP settings within the BuckeyeMail/Office 365 Outlook Web app.  Please reference the following link BuckeyeMail Web Access for information on how to login to BuckeyeMail.

In Outlook Web App, click  Options > Accounts > POP and IMAP.

What else do I need to know?

Although you can connect to your account using POP3 or IMAP4, we recommend that you connect to BuckeyeMail/Office 365 using a full-featured email client, see below for references.  Using a full-featured email client, such as Outlook, Entourage, or Apple Mail, provides an optimal email and collaboration experience.

Please see Microsoft’s Settings for more details.
