To check your computer to see if it can run a newer version of windows you can download a program from Microsoft called the Windows Upgrade Advisor. It can check your computers hardware and software and advise you on what components will not run under an updated version. Currently the only Windows operating systems that are supported by the OCIO are Windows 7, Windows 8.1, & Windows 10 (1511 or later). A wireless network card (most often built-in on laptops) supporting 802.11g standards is needed for wireless connectivity (802.11n is recommended). Additional information on wireless connections on campus.

Tablets and Mobile Devices

Most modern tablet computers (iPads and Android tablets) do offer support for connecting to OSU Wireless and OSU websites.  We also offer an "Ohio State" app for Android and Apple devices free of charge.

Many e-Reader tablets do NOT support OSU wireless due to their lack of support for enterprise Wi-Fi encryption. These include but are not limited to:  Nook Simple Touch, Amazon Kindle, Kindle Touch, and Kindle Keyboard.  (Kindle Fire does have support for OSU Wireless, however).
