Configuring a BlackBerry To Sync With BuckeyeMail

How do I set up POP or IMAP e-mail on a BlackBerry Pearl / Storm?

NOTE: In order to use BuckeyeMail you must first have already signed up to use BuckeyeMail at http://my.osu.edu. See BuckeyeMail - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more information on getting access to BuckeyeMail.

  1. From the BlackBerry home screen, click BlackBerry Setup -> Set up Internet E-mail -> Add An Email Account(for example, name.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu).
  2. Type your e-mail address and password, and then click Next.
  3. If your BlackBerry device can't determine the appropriate server settings, click I will provide the settings to add this email account.
  4. Scroll down and then click Next.
  5. Select Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP), and then click Next.
  6. Type your User name (for example, name.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu).
  7. Scroll down and type the name of your e-mail server. The server (for both POP and IMAP) is pod51000.outlook.com .
  8. Click Next.
  9. Enter the name of the outgoing server: pod51000.outlook.com
    (Depending on your phone carrier, this step may not be needed)
  10. Click OK to complete the setup.

How do I set up POP or IMAP e-mail on a BlackBerry Curve?

    **NOTE: Verizon customers will not be able to configure their Blackberry Curve to check BuckeyeMail directly due to a missing required security setting. According to Verizon, you will need to use an intermediate account, such as Gmail.

  1. From the BlackBerry home screen, click BlackBerry Setup > Set up Internet E-mail > Add An Email Account.
  2. Type your e-mail address and password, and then click Next(for example, name.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu).
  3. If your BlackBerry device can't determine the appropriate server settings, click I will provide the settings to add this email account.
  4. Scroll down and then click Next.
  5. Select Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP), and then click Next.
  6. Type your user name (for example, name.#@buckeyemail.osu.edu).
  7. Scroll down and type the name of your e-mail server. The server (for both POP and IMAP) is pod51000.outlook.com .
  8. Click Next.
  9. Enter the name of the outgoing server: pod51000.outlook.com
  10. Click OK to complete the setup.
